GPS-Snitch

There is a cool program that my cousin Ammon told me about for GPS-enabled blackberry's, it's called Blip. It allows you to post your gps coordinates and see your friends posted coordinates. You can set your blackberry to auto-post at intervals. I have mine set at 15 minutes. When you log into the website on a computer you can see all your history and your friends history. You can either view the points on a google map right there on the website or you can have it imported into google earth.

Right now my brother-in-law is at a King Mack fishing tournament south of New Orleans and, using the program, I was able to see his path out this morning. The orange dots represent each post that his phone made. Pretty cool huh?

Places I like to go to at Holden Beach

Well my weekend trip out to Holden Beach has come and gone. I was able to spend time with my parents and enjoyed the great hospitality of my sister Dore and bro-in-law Shane. Thanks for letting me stay at your place again! The weather over there was HOT. I think there was not a day that was under 90. Hot and humid. You better have your AC in order over there on a hot day or you are in for a miserable time. During my visit I was able to hit the spots that I enjoy visiting while in Holden Beach.

First I was able to check out the local surf shop, Cape Fear Surf Shop and browse the Quiksilver and Billabong decal section. On this trip Angela told me to get some Oakley's as an early Father's Day gift. Mike at Cape Fear was a cool guy and gave me a good price on some polarized Square Wires. Next time I go I'll have to get some pics with Mike and the inside of his shop.

Another one of my favorite spots to visit is Provisions restaurant located just to the right of the Holden Beach Bridge. The restaurant is right on the water and they have a small dock for boats to dock on while they eat. The food is delicious and the best fish on the menu is the grouper. I would recommend either a grilled grouper sandwich or a group-salad sandwich. Conch Fritters on the side are a must. These fried fritters won't be found on any low-fat diet, but they taste amazing. The inside of the restaurant is quaint and the walls are decorated with actual license plates from various states across the country. Should I ever move to Holden Beach I think I may donate one of my Utah plates to be displayed.

Here is a view of the dock from the back of Provisions. The water is the ICW (Intercontinental Waterway). Holden Beach Island sits between it and the Atlantic.

Back to Holden Beach

It looks like it's time for me to make my quarterly post. My dad has finally retired from the USPS after working for 30 years. 30 years is a long time to work for the Post Office and I am happy for him to finally be done. I decided at the last minute to fly out to Holden Beach, NC to see him and be part of his retirement party. 7 hours on planes and 3 hours driving in a car and I'm more than ready for bed tonight. Pictures of the happy retiree and the food and celebration will be forthcoming.

Teh Sick!

The past couple of days have been pretty rough for the Lelepali kids. First Makena and Christian came down with colds that have been getting progressively worse and then yesterday we took Kat in to get seen for an ugly cough and find out she may have RSV. The doctor says that by the time it takes to test for it we will already know from her symptoms so he is going to treat it as if it were RSV. Kat is about 4 weeks old so he wants to have us ccome in every day to get checked. If she starts to get really laborious breathing then he will meet us up at Primary Children's Hospital. That is worse case scenario and we are hoping that it doesn't get that bad.
This brings is to last night. Makena's cold appears to have turned into an ear infection. She was crying all night because of the pain. I felt bad because there was really nothing we could do for her besides telling her we would take her to the doctor in the morning. If that wasn't enough, Christian's cold started to bring his asthma out and he was wheezing like a broken accordian. We gave him his asthma treatment and then he feel asleep. Between Makena's crying, Christian's wheezing and Kat's fussiness and coughing I think we finally got to sleep around 4:00 in the morning. As much as I hate the Instacare, Angela has taken Makena there this morning because it's Sunday. Christian will most likely be making a doctor visit tomorrow along with Kat. Gotta love the cold/flu season!

Sunburn!

I didn't use sunblock and now I am paying the price. First burn of the year and it's a doozy. I have a feeling I'm going to have blisters on my back from this one.

The Beach

Saturday, June 16: We finally make it to the beach (even though the house we are staying in is about 400yds from the beach). The kids had a lot of fun and I finally got my tan. I knew I should've used sunblock...

More pictures from Friday night dinner...

Holden Beach Vacation Part 2

After swimming we went to Capt'n Petes, a small fish market located on the dock of the waterway. They get their fish in throughout the day from local fisherman so it doesn't get any fresher than this! We bought 4 lbs of shrimp and about 6 lbs of grouper. It was a hefty bill for all that fresh fish but it was definitely worth it. I picked up some Rib-eye's on the way home and it was steak and fish night. Shane was the master chef of the night on the grill.

We went swimming at the community pool where my parents live. The kids had a great time as can be seen in the pictures. It was a little overcast and warm. Despite being in the sun for about an hour I still do not have a tan.

Holden Beach Vacation Part 1

After a midly stressful flight with two very anxious kids we arrived at the Raleigh Durham International Airport. It was raining when we landed but the temperature was a perfect 74 degrees. I went to pick up the rental car while Angela and Maile waited at the baggage claim. It took forever to get the minivan but when I pulled up to the pick-up to see where Angela was they were just getting out with the luggage. Nice timing!

After flying most of the day the kids weren't up for another 4 hour drive to Holden Beach but we pressed on, screaming kids (Christian) and all. We finally arrived at our destination after 14 hours of total travel. The following day Shane's sod came so, with the help of David, my dad, and the Elders we got it laid down. The sod they use here is Centipede, its a larger blade than the Kentucky Bluegrass we use in Utah.

Here's another shot of the front of the house with the first patch of sod we laid down. Notice the two fingers at the top of the picture because I'm too lazy to crop them out right now. It didn't rain today, but the temperature stayed in the mid 70's - perfect, in my opinion.

New Camera!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I got a new Olympus digital camera. I'm really excited to start taking pictures again especially now that it's springtime. I have only had the camera for a couple days but so far I'm pretty impressed with it. I decided to go with the Olympus Evolt e-500. I took the previous blog picture (buddha baby) with the new camera. I'll be taking a lot more and posting some of them up here. I also started a new web page through my ISP provider (comcast) located at http://home.comcast.net/~hagoth. I'll probably be posting most of the pictures there.

On a side note I increased my maximum benchpress weight up to 335lbs today - YEAH! I tried to get 345lbs up but I was too weak on the left side and required a little help from Eric who was spotting me. He said he didn't help very much and that I should be able to get 345 up soon.

XBOX 360 Overheating

My Xbox 360 is broken! My fear of my 360 overheating unfortunately came true. It all started with my Xbox locking up a couple times last month and then last week it happened every time I turned it on. I called Microsoft and they said it was still under warranty and sent out a box for me to ship it in. I just received an email from them stating that I should be getting it back on Friday just in time for the weekend. Hopefully this doesn't happen again, but if it does at least Microsoft is good and quick about fixing it.

We had a healthy baby boy on February 22, 2006 - Christian Ikaika Lelepali. Named after his father's hero and brother. So far he's been a pleasure. My little man!

I Finally did it...

Ever since High School I have wanted to be able to benchpress 3 plates - 315lbs. I finally did it last week with Ammon, Adam, and Sam as my witnesses. I am pretty proud of myself considering about 6 months ago I was having trouble putting up anything over 245. I owe it all to hard work, Dymatize Mega Milk (protein shake), Cytosport Muscle Milk (protein shake), and Xpand (creatine) and my buddies from work who kept pushing me. My next goal: 400...
I installed some Aura Bass Shakers in the Walmart recliners I got for Christmas - they work pretty darn well!
I got some new posters for the room. I now have a comic book superhero theme going on. Check em out.
